This process helped me better understand what elements were essential to include when transitioning into Figma, as well as which parts of the design were already strong and ready to move forward. By starting with sketches, I was able to focus more on layout, flow, and functionality without getting distracted by visual details too early in the process.

To test my ideas, I had two participants complete the same three tasks using the sketches. They reviewed each screen and clicked on the areas where they believed they needed to interact in order to complete the task. In order to create meaningful and realistic tasks for testing, I used ChatGPT as a tool to help generate ideas. I provided context about the app and my goals, and it suggested several possible tasks. From those, I selected the three that I felt would be the most effective and provide the most useful feedback: navigating to settings and adjusting preferences, creating an anonymous post, and completing a guided journaling entry. These tasks covered key features of the app and allowed me to evaluate both navigation and functionality.

Overall, the testing showed that users were able to move through the app fairly easily, largely due to the clean and intentional layout of the design. However, there were still a few important details that I noted needed to be improved before moving into the high-fidelity prototype. For example, I want to make sure that all buttons provide clear visual feedback so users can easily tell when an action has been selected. In the settings section, it should be obvious whether notifications are turned on or off, so users feel confident in their choices. Additionally, I noticed that within the community section, it would be helpful to consistently reinforce that all interactions are anonymous. This should be clearly communicated across all relevant screens, including the main feed, individual discussion posts, and the screen where users create their own posts. Making this more visible will help build user trust and ensure there is no confusion about privacy.

This stage of the process was extremely helpful in identifying both strengths and areas for improvement within my design. It gave me a clearer direction for refining the app and confirmed that my general layout and structure are on the right track. I’m excited to move into the high-fidelity prototype phase, where I can bring these ideas to life with more detailed visuals and interactions, and continue improving the app based on the feedback I’ve gathered.

AIX Design: Prototype Lo-Fi and Test During this stage of the design project, the main goal was to begin developing the app through sketches and identify any gaps or areas that still needed further thought.
