This week, you will develop personas that capture the goals, needs, and challenges of your target user groups, and build user journey maps to visualize their current experiences step by step. Working individually and as a team, you will refine these artifacts to clearly represent your users. These outputs will serve as a foundation to guide your design direction in the next stages of the project.
Assignment 3: Define – Personas + User Journey Maps
Class Activities
Based on the insights gathered from the empathize phase, develop personas and user journey maps for each of your target user group.
- Individual Task
- In your Personal Project, create a new design file named “define”
- Copy and paste the “persona” and “user journey map” templates into this file
- Develop personas for each of your target user groups (e.g., students, parents, advisors, faculty).
- Create a user journey map for each persona
- Share the personas and user journey maps with your teammates for review
- Team Task
- Compare and discuss all team members’ personas and journey maps
- Refine and finalize your team’s personas
- Refine and finalize your team’s user journey maps
- Your team should have a shared 3 personas and 3 user journey maps
