In this stage, you will begin generating and visualizing design ideas based on the user needs identified in the Define stage. You will use the Creative Matrix to explore a wide range of possibilities and develop a sitemap to organize and communicate your team’s design concepts. Finally, you will sketch key pages to visually represent your ideas and the overall structure of your design.

Team Task
- In your Team Project → DES3633 Collab FigJam file, create a new section titled “Ideate.”
- Under this section, copy and paste the “Creative Matrix” template.
- Based on your user research insights, develop several “How Might We” (HMW) questions that address user needs identified in the Define phase (personas and user journey maps). Make sure that your HMW questions are neither too narrow nor too broad.
- List your HMW questions in the first column of the Creative Matrix.
Individual Task
- Independently generate multiple ideas for each HMW question.
- Each team member should add their ideas to one of the columns in the Creative Matrix.
Team Task
- Discuss all the ideas in the Creative Matrix as a team.
- Prioritize and select the most promising and impactful ideas to move forward with.
- Under the same “ideate“ section, develop a Sitemap for the Viscomm website. The site map should clearly communicate the site content and should reflect the ideas generated in the creative matrix.
Individual Task
- Use either white paper or a tablet (like an iPad) to sketch the web pages based on your team’s Sitemap.
- Each node or box in the Sitemap should be represented by a corresponding sketch.
