The creative matrix process was helpful in identifying and selecting user needs into idea design and solutions. The creative matrix process also taught me the value of interation and experimentation. I learned that design is not a linear process, but rather a cycle of exploration, feedback, and refinement. The initial phase involved collecting data from user interviews to identify prevalent themes. This informed the development of our HMW questions, ensuring they directly addressed the users needs.
When coming up with ideas and solutions for the HMW questions, each one of us came up with our own ideas and solutions separately. Then continued to review each other’s ideas, came up with ideas and solutions and grouped all of our ideas together that were similar. This led to the development of the sitemap, outlining the structure and organization of our proposed solution.
One of the significant challenges we faced was choosing the top 3 HMW questions. With the data we collected, all the questions that we came up with were necessary. However, we recognized the importance of focus. This allowed us to concentrate our efforts on the questions that would benefit the most based on our users’ frustrations and challenges. We discovered that the 3 user groups often struggled with the lack of information about the programs, knowledge on professors, and not being able to see the work that is produced within the program. We felt these 3 questions were the ones that were most valuable to the users.
Then we started create a sitemap to brainstorm and come up with different solutions with how were going the present the required information based on the 3 Hmw questions that we agreed on. Next we started to create sketches which was crucial for visualizing our ideas and communicating them effectively. We experimented with different layouts and interactions, This process allowed us to refine our designs and identify potential usability issues early on.
Throughout the process, the challenge and I faced was collaborating effectively with my team members who had different perspectives, and being able to communicate effectively to better understand their ideas. I discovered the importance of clear communication, active listening, and mutual respect. By embracing diverse viewpoints, we were able to brainstorm a wider range of ideas and create more innovative ideas and solutions.
In conclusion, the creative matrix process was a helpful process that contributed to my growth as a designer in coming up with questions and being able to brainstorm ideas and solutions to those questions. I gained valuable insights into user-centered design and learned to view different design perspectives. Also, being able to make changes and adjustments to designs to accommodate users’ abilities and ensuring easy navigation.
