Creative Matrix<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

During the Ideate phase, we wanted to start developing our ideas to solve user problems. We started by making a creative matrix. We developed how might we questions that related to our research, yet framed multiple solutions. A few of them were a challenge to write; we didn\u2019t want the question to be too broad or too narrow. Then, we individually developed solutions for each of our questions. As a group, we reviewed solutions, noting what we thought was best, and narrowing our focus to three key features. We then applied HAX Guidelines to really hammer out our ideas. It was challenging to determine what guidelines were needed and which ones weren\u2019t; it was definitely a group effort.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Storyboard<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I worked on a storyboard to visualize users using my app. I used our group persona and I had him use the app to go run. I made a list of six major story beats before hitting a road block, so I prompted ChatGPT. I gave it my scenario, my key features, told it to act as a UX Researcher, and to generate a storyboard in sentences. It gave me a pretty cohesive seven beat story. However, it was missing something, so I prompted it to add the user inputting personal goals and data. It gave me a list of 10 goals. I added a few more based on the list it gave me. Then, I prompted ideas for visualizing the storyboard. I didn’t really use the visualization ideas; however, I did incorporate phone screens as it suggested. I hadn’t really considered the phone screen as being a storytelling device. While I didn\u2019t directly use the information it gave me, it definitely helped to get me thinking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prompt<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m developing a storyboard for an app I’m designing. My persona wants to exercise consistently and starts by running. The app can push notifications, provide motivational prompts during exercise, and provide a visualization of the exercise afterwards. I also need the user to input their personal goals and data before they ever exercise. Act as a UX researcher. Generate a storyboard that relates to the information I provided. Give the response in sentences.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      User Flow Chart<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      I also created a user flow diagram. We were left to do this largely on our own, so I was a little uncertain as to where to begin. First, I focused on my three main features: visualization of exercise progress, exercise feedback, and notifications. I wanted screens specifically for exercise feedback and visualization. However, I was unsure where to go from there. I prompted ChatGPT, explained my app and key features, told it to act as a UX Researcher, and generate a user flow chart. It gave eight major flows with one having a plan adjustment. I incorporated a screen for the user to adjust their exercise plan. I also added a screen to edit their personal info and preferences within the app. A recurring theme amongst users was personalization. I still feel like I’m missing something, but I think it covers most if not all of my primary goals and features.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

      Reflection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      The Creative Matrix was really helpful for developing solutions, the same goes for the HAX guidelines. However, it was kind of difficult trying to relate what our features needed or didn’t need. The storyboarding was fun; I think I managed to create a cohesive narrative that expressed the system and user interaction. I struggled to really start my user flow chart, but after I developed some key screens and prompted ChatGPT, I hope the flow chart holds up.
